Meet Broder Magnuson! Broder was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. After committing to GCU, he knew that moving to Phoenix would be a huge change. He raves about his hometown, sharing, “I love it there and I plan on going back.” There was a sense of familiarity for Broder before coming to GCU—he had grown up taking trips to Phoenix. This past year, Broder’s mom received a position to work for GCU as an admissions counselor. His family recently relocated, and while it was bittersweet to move away from his hometown, he shares, “It is great having my family here—and a home.” With his mom on campus, Broder tells his friends, “You need to hang out with my mom!” She is a great mentor for others and Broder’s best friend. Broder is currently a sophomore majoring in Business Management with a minor in Christian Studies. He is also a life leader in Willow Hall this year where he leads a great group of freshman guys, and shares, “I can’t wait to see how they grow!” Broder has also received a position this year at the Antelope Reception Center and is looking forward to beginning this new work opportunity. As a sophomore, Broder is additionally looking forward to “trying new things and investing into freshman.” He wants to be a resource and a helper. One of Broder’s favorite memories at GCU was taking a trip to Zion with his friends. “It was the best trip ever. We all came together and loved each other well.” As a freshman, Broder met his best friends who were both juniors at the time. “These guys really took me in and mentored me.” He encourages others to reach out to new people and dive into the word of Jesus. A Bible verse that has been on his heart lately is Romans 12:2 NIV, reminding him to trust in God’s perfect plan. If you see Broder around on campus, don’t forget to say hi!
